Three friends had decided that, frankly, shows were lacking something. An intimacy, an involvement, and fewer belligerent drunks more interested in talking than watching. After a 2010 show at the Fremont Abbey in Seattle, Tyler Kalberg, Dylan Priest, and Zach Varnell started to toss around the idea of taking their favorite artists and putting them in an atmosphere that promoted the kind of performances that made music captivating in the first place. They decided to bring them home.
Starting as an idea for a one time show with friends' bands, Drew Grow & the Pastors' Wives, Kelli Schaefer, and The Head and The Heart, a casual show with good friends proved that taking away the barriers of a traditional venue gave artists and fans alike the room to stretch.
Inspired by that first venture, Notes From Home has continued, booking some of the Northwest's, and the country's, most talented voices,
and hosting them in various, kindhearted people's homes across the Seattle area.
Notes From Home started to benefit the people who make and who love music for its own sake, and because of that over 80% of proceeds go to the band, with the rest helping to cover the cost of putting on the shows. If you want to be a part of Notes From Home by lending your house, email hello [at] notesfromhome.tv, and you will be contacted, and most likely lavished with ebullient praise.
